The Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation has filed a complaint with the Regulatory Authority of Electronic Media (REM) against TV Pink for what it describes as the lengthy and dangerous campaign of this television company against cable news channel TV N1 and its journalists.
With its daily repetition of ruthless and unfounded allegations against N1, TV Pink – in collaboration with pro-government tabloids and senior government officials – is leading a campaign of intimidation against TV N1 employees, noted the Foundation.
The latest case prompting such a campaign was the insistence of N1 journalist Miodrag Sovilj that President Vučić answer questions regarding arms trading and the interior minister’s father’s alleged involvement in this work. After it was announced that Vučić had been admitted to hospital due to health problems, TV Pink spent two full days calling out Sovilj with various interlocutors, insulting the N1 journalist and accusing him of being responsible for the president’s poor health and of attempting to provoke an incident.
TV Pink then posted photos of the N1 reporter on its portal, with which it tried to compromise him, but negative reactions prompted the subsequent removal of that content from the portal.
The Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation has called on citizens to also file charges against TV Pink and thus support independent and professional journalism, which is coming increasingly under threat in Serbia.
