Nemanja Aleksić, a well-known lawyer from Novi Sad, has filed a criminal complaint against the author and host of the satirical show “24 Minutes with Zoran Kesić”, which is broadcast on cable channel Nova S, claiming that the popular host allegedly provoked religious hatred and intolerance towards believers of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The lawyer was angered by the way Kesić addressed the recent parliamentary elections in Montenegro and made mention of senior church officials and saints in that context. If found guilty, Kesić faces a possible prison sentence of one to eight years for the crime of which he is being accused, and it is now up to the public prosecution service to assess whether there are grounds to instigate criminal proceedings.
