The team manager at the Football Association of Serbia sent a series of insulting and threatening messages to Snežana Čongradin, a journalist of daily Danas, stating, among other things, that she was “his concern”. Čongradin said that she had felt frightened by this threat.
It was agreed at a meeting of the Working Group for the Security and Protection of Journalists, which was attended by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and Culture & Information Minister Maja Gojković, that this case would be monitored, while the Prosecutor’s Office for High-Tech Crime formed a case on the basis of a NUNS report and invited the lady journalist in question to make a statement.
Two youths who were guarding a Belgrade mural dedicated to Ratko Mladić, the former Republika Srpska Army commander who is serving a life sentence for acts of genocide committed during the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, approached the cameras of N1 Television and issued threats while demanding that they stop filming. Tensions rose in Belgrade after several individual organisations announced that they will remove the mural, while the police had to be engaged to break up demonstrations and thus prevent possible conflicts breaking out between opponents of the mural and those who want to prevent its removal.
Following N1’s broadcasting of a news feature about the People’s Patrols, several members of a right-wing anti-immigrant organisation, whose members appeared during the heightened tensions over the mural, organised a press conference in front of N1 to announce that they, allegedly, have no connection whatsoever to the regime.
