Kosovska Mitrovica-based news portal KoSSev has come under attack from hackers, with the tech assault beginning after warning sirens reverberated around the northern part of this city, which is mostly home to Serbs.
Speaking to Cenzolovka, Tatjana Lazarević, editor of the KoSSev portal, said that she suspects the attack – characterised as a DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack – is linked to recent incidents that have occurred in the north of Kosovo, while she also recalled that similar attacks took place during previous crises.
The Slavko Ćuruvi Foundation has requested that the relevant authorities discover the identities of those targeting the KoSSev portal and called on representatives of the government not to ignore this media company and to enable its work to continue unhindered. The same has also been sought by the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS – IJAS).
