Over the course of four days, from 4th to 8th September, which he spent in the part of western Serbia that’s known for its rich lithium reserves, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was live on television broadcasts for a total of 14 hours and 47 minutes, reported Serbia’s Istinomer portal.
Vučić relocated his activities to that part of the country in response to planned lithium mining by company Rio Tinto having led to mass street protests and prompted serious criticism and concern among environmental organisations, a large section of citizens and the expert public. Many activists have been arrested during the protests, while the police have also detained citizens who supported them on social media platforms.
Vučić is otherwise incomparably more present than any other politicians in the biggest media outlets in Serbia on a daily basis, particularly pro-government tabloids and national television.
