The OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Serbia has presented Personality of the Year awards for 2024 to Ivana Stevanović, executive director of the Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation, Veran Matić, member of the Permanent Working Group for the Safety of Journalists, and Nemanja Nenadić, Transparency Serbia programme director.
According to the official explanation for the award, Stevanović was awarded in recognition of her “significant contribution to the struggle against impunity for crimes against journalists and her unwavering commitment to promoting professional journalism”. It highlights “her expertise in advocating for media reform, strengthening ethics and independent journalism and monitoring media freedom in Serbia via the Cenzolovka portal, which the Foundation established”.
Veran Matić was awarded in recognition of his steadfast support in promoting inclusive dialogue on the safety of journalists. His contributions encompass numerous areas, including journalists’ safety, media reform and media policy development. Nemanja Nenadić was awarded for his professionalism and commitment to electoral reform and advancing the fight against corruption.
