Famous Serbian singer-songwriter Vlado Georgiev has issued curses and threatened the newsroom of daily newspaper Danas via the X social media network.
The musician, who is also known for his belief in conspiracy theories or the flat-earth theory, wrote, among other things, that the Danas newsroom should be firebombed, which the Danas editorial department reported to the prosecution service as a threat. Furthermore, Georgiev, who has hundreds of thousands of followers, has used every opportunity to direct threats and hate speech towards this daily newspaper. His ire was prompted by Danas’s reporting on the terrorist attack in Moscow, but Georgiev accused the Danas newsroom of hating Serbia and branded its journalists “anti-Serbian animals”.
Danas has previously received many threats, but “now this relates to a popular singer, a public figure, and we think that’s a much more serious matter. Those who shape public opinion in this way give ideas to various maniacs to attack members of our editorial staff,” said Danas Editor-in-Chief Dragoljub Petrović.
