The Slavko Ćuruvija Foundation has been threatened via its Facebook page, where one Dušan Milisavljević posted a comment written in capital letters, reading: “And why does this concern you from Ćuruvija, be careful, there are more Easters, hands became gilded.”
This is an obvious threat against the Foundation, given that it is well known that journalist and publisher Slavko Ćuruvija was murdered during Easter, on 11th April 1999.
The person who’s behind the “Dušan Milisavljević” Facebook profile added “the hands are gilded” in an obvious reference to the murderers of the journalist and publisher of newspaper Dnevni Telegraf and news magazine Evopljanin.
The SĆF will report the threat to the Prosecutor’s Office for High-Tech Crime and expects the competent authorities to respond urgently.
As is common knowledge, Ćuruvija was gunned down in Belgrade, in the passageway in front of the building where he lived, where he was riddled with bullets from a Skorpion submachine gun, after having been followed for days, right up to the point of the crime itself, by 27 members of the State Security Service.
Nobody has been held accountable for this murder. The four members of the State Security Service accused of the murder, and initially sentenced twice by the first instance court to a total of 100 years in prison, were acquitted by the Court of Appeal in February 2024.
