Journalists of [cable news channel] N1 have received threats via email, in which, amongst others, a certain Milan M wrote that the day will come when their (journalists’) heads will have bloodied, along with a succession of insulting expletives, including branding them ‘Nazis’ and ‘Serb-haters’.
N1 Serbia programming director Igor Božić says that this is just one in a series of threats that are being received by the journalists of this media outlet, adding that to date none of these cases has received an epilogue.
The Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) has reported this case to the competent authorities in Serbia.
The SafeJournalists network, which represents media professionals across the Western Balkan region, joined its member organisation NUNS in calling on the competent institutions to resolve this case as soon as possible and thereby send the message that they stand in protection of journalists.
